Troy, Michigan June 15, 2011 – Copper Range announces the release of its new patent-pending product, the Firestop Information System (FIS). FIS is an interactive, web-based data management system through which pertinent firestopping data is stored and accessed. The system allows documentation to be shared and amended, creating up-to-date, real-time management of critical information for firestop contractors, facility managers and other authorized users. FIS gives administrators a powerful management tool that not only ensures life safety and code compliance, but provides a reliable risk management program throughout the life of a facility.
Among the benefits of FIS, the system eliminates the need for cumbersome paperwork, improving the efficiency of the firestopping process for field workers. FIS allows users to import interactive floor plans, which are used to denote deficiencies and generate online reports. These reports include a Survey and Repair module that shows the repair cycle, specific location and fire rating, penetrant type and firestop deficiency, corrective measures, before and after images and any other necessary documentation. The system also includes a detailed repair estimate spreadsheet allowing facility owners to monitor the cost of their projects at any given time.
In addition, FIS provides the ability to work in either an online or off-line environment, giving the product a unique, competitive advantage. Dr. Peter Kochevar, co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Copper Range states, “The FIS is at root a web-based application that was developed and will be run by Copper Range as a service. But, the requirement to be able to function at job sites where there might not be Internet access posed big challenges, which Copper Range was able to overcome.” In a hospital, for example, where several areas do not have Internet service, FIS will still allow all the data to be entered, uninterrupted, as if one was working online. As soon as the device is moved to an area where Internet connectivity is regained, all the data will automatically sync with the system.
